FRIGG'S MEDICS
Feb. 17th, 2020 04:53 pm❧ FRIGG'S MEDICS
A variety of threats have made themselves known to the people of Asgard, and the creation of a gifted medical team is now of high priority to the gods. Whether a Wanderer possesses healing magic, or perhaps they have previous mortal medical knowledge, these medics are tasked with maintaining the health and wellness of the community at large. Frigg’s medics will be involved with the treatment of battle wounds, healing the unfortunate results of curses or conflicts within the cities walls, and any day to day health concerns that may befall Wanderers and natives alike.
The most skilled medics may also be called upon to assist in teaching first aid practices to those in need of the knowledge, while other members of the medical team will be tasked with handing out medical supplies and ensuring that there is a well-kept stockpile of bandages and medicinal herbs available at any moment.
Frigg's medics pull together care packages and supply bundles to be carted off by those who march off to battle (or even just on a longer trip). They also head the welcome parties waiting to receive those travelers when they return, providing not just medical attention but blankets, food, and possibly even a shoulder to lean on in order to get the weary travellers back to their homes.
There is also a more clinical aspect to this position, involving record keeping and filing away information. What Wanderer requires what kind of active care? Which are going away to battle, hopefully to return, and have they been given the pack they need to care for themselves? Record keeping is an equally important part of being a medic, for those perhaps not so skilled in the more hands-on aspect.

❖ how being a medic works:
- As one of the few vocations without a Participation Sound-Off, playing one of Frigg's medics requires distinctly less occupational upkeep - but that doesn't mean the job is easy. Medics are encouraged to take shifts at the local hospital (at the player's discretion), where natives and Wanderers alike can go to have their wounds or illnesses attended to. Resources are available to further study medicine in the hospital's small medical library, and they seem surprisingly up-to-date. Perhaps they fell from the sky in last year's deluge?
Medics should also keep an eye on the Request A Medic top-level, in case anyone needs a medical professional but doesn't directly know one. Medics are welcome to reply directly to these requests. We don't anticipate that they'll be very frequent, with the number of healers within our ranks, but it's better to be prepared!
Another primary responsibility Frigg's medics hold is post-battle care. Too frequently, incidents within or outside of Asgard leave dozens injured, tired, likely not in a state to properly administer their own medical care. This responsibility falls on Frigg's medics. Ideally, they should welcome these wounded travelers back with first-aid kits, blankets, maybe even hot beverages. Medical care is top priority, but hospitality isn't to be forgotten in the process.
Should you have a particular branch of medicine in mind - mental health care, for example - just let Frigg know, and she will direct Wanderers in need to seek your aid directly.
